Freelance
When she’s not juggling her research and creative work in her free time, Mariah works as a freelance copyeditor and proofreader for publishing companies as well as individual projects. She’s also done more extensive developmental editing for early-stage manuscripts, and she’s familiar with style sheet conventions and review standards (Chicago Manual of Style, MLA, APA, etc.). She has experience with graphic novels, poetry books, middle grade novels, tabletop gaming manuals, and many more genres. Get in touch if you’d be interested in her services!
Higher Education
Currently, Mariah works in Research Development at the Arts & Humanities Grant Studio at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where she specializes in Grant Operations Management and Creative Engagement. The Grant Studio’s mission is to help researchers and creatives find funding for projects in the arts and humanities—disciplines that are often under-supported. Whether it’s serving as a project manager or working on proposal development with a faculty member, Mariah is excited to connect with people, support important work, and learn more about the research being done in the world today. She’s currently part of a team at the Grant Studio working on a qualitative and quantitative data collection project titled, “Research Development in the Fine Arts & Humanities: A Mixed Method Study,” funded by a NORD/InfoReady Research Grant.
